HP large-format printing materials for HP Latex Inks
HP Latex Inks also provide broad media versatility including low-cost, uncoated papers and textiles6 and a wide range of recyclable HP printing materials.7 They produce odor-free prints5 suitable even for sensitive indoor environments such as restaurants or medical facilities. In fact, prints produced on HP PVC-free Wall Paper printed with water-based HP Latex Inks are GREENGUARD Children & Schools CertifiedSM and meet AgBB criteria.8 HP HDPE Reinforced Banner is a 100% recyclable, 100% alternative to PVC scrim banner material.7
Recycling for HP Latex printing materials and supplies
The HP Large-format Media take-back program7 Many paper-based HP large-format printing materials can be recycled through commonly available recycling programs. HP also offers a free and convenient program for recycling selected HDPE- and PET-based HP printing materials. These materials are suitable for producing sign and display applications on printers using HP Latex Printing Technologies. It's also possible to return certain HP Latex Printing supplies to HP for free and convenient recycling9. The video clips below explain further.
Ideal for printing rigid point-of-sale signs, this highly productive printer uses HP UV-curable inks and can offer an efficient alternative to screen printing. The HP Scitex FB7600 Industrial Press uses the HP FB225 Scitex ink system which is GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM Certified and meets AgBB criteria.10
This independently produced and reviewed study commissioned by HP compares the environmental impact of printing point-of-sale signage on an HP Scitex FB7500 Printer with a competitive screen-printing press.

1 HP image permanence estimates by HP Image Permanence Lab. Outdoor display permanence tested according to SAE J2527 using HP Latex and eco- and low-solvent inks on a range of media, including HP media; in a vertical display orientation in simulated nominal outdoor display conditions for select high and low climates, including exposure to direct sunlight and water; performance may vary as environmental conditions change. Scratch, smudge, and water resistance tested using HP Latex and eco- and low-solvent inks on a wide range of media, including HP media; water resistance is comparable when printed on water-resistant substrates. Results may vary based on specific media performance and scratch testing methodology. For more information, see www.hp.com/go/supplies/printpermanence. 2 Special ventilation is not required to meet US OSHA requirements on occupational exposure to VOCs from HP Latex Inks. Special ventilation equipment installation is at the discretion of the customer—no specific HP recommendation is intended. Customers should consult state and local requirements and regulations. 3 HP water-based Latex Inks are not classified as flammable or combustible liquids under the USDOT or international transportation regulations. These materials have been tested per the Pensky-Martins Closed Cup method and the flash point is greater than 110 deg C. 4 The inks were tested for Hazardous Air Pollutants per U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Method 311 (testing conducted in 2008) and none were detected. HAPs are air pollutants which are not covered by ambient air quality standards but which, as defined in the Clean Air Act, may present a threat of adverse human health effects or adverse environmental effects. 5 Some substrates may have inherent odor. 6 For best results, print textile applications on polyester fabric that does not stretch. Performance may vary depending on media. Please consult your media supplier for compatibility details. 7 HP offers the HP Large-format Media take-back program in North America and Europe through which most HP recyclable signage media can be returned, availability varies. Some recyclable papers can be recycled through commonly available recycling programs. For details visit www.hp.com/recycle. Aside from this program, recycling opportunities for these products are currently only available in limited areas. Customers should consult local recycling resources for recycling these products. 8 HP PVC-free Wall Paper printed using HP Latex Inks is GREENGUARD Children & Schools CertifiedSM (see www.greenguard.org) and meets AgBB criteria for health-related evaluation of VOC emissions of indoor building products (see www.umweltbundesamt.de/produkte-e/bauprodukte/agbb.htm). 9 In the circa 50 countries and territories in which the HP Planet Partners program operates for printing supplies. Program features and availability varies. Where this program is not available, and for other consumables not included in the program, consult the Material Safety Data Sheet MSDS) available at www.hp.com/go/ecodata to determine appropriate disposal. 10 The ink system using HP FB225 Scitex Inks is listed in the GREENGUARD Product Guide for signage. Using a GREENGUARD Certified ink does not indicate the end product is Certified. See www.greenguard.org It also meets AgBB criteria for health-related evaluation of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions of indoor building products.
