High-end printing for high-end design

In the world of high-end interior design, client requests can range from the ridiculous to the sublime. This diversity drives innovative companies like Emirates Décor, located in Dubai, UAE, to stay on top of the latest techniques and tools required to satisfy the unique needs of their clients.

Recently, the company was asked to design 13 tons of custom swimming pool tiles for a client in Zanzibar. In the past, Emirates Décor would have created the design—including images of mermaids, fish and shells—using a costly, time-consuming process of traditional glazing and firing.

But thanks to the speed and versatility of its HP Scitex FB910 printer, Emirates Décor was able to print the design directly onto the tiles, saving both time and money.1 In addition, the printer’s ability to produce effects on virtually any flexible or rigid material2—even heavy, thick or uneven substrates—has created limitless design possibilities.

Maximize productivity and profitability

Although the tile project was Emirates Décor’s first using its HP Scitex flatbed printer, the company wasn’t afraid to push the printer’s limits. Designed to maximize productivity in high-volume environments, the HP Scitex handled the project flawlessly.

HP Scitex FB910 printers use a vacuum-belt-driven feed system to simultaneously print and load various types of media. At true 600 x 600 dpi, the FB910 is capable of up to 811 sq. ft/hr, enabling fast output and cutting overall production time.

“We are extremely satisfied with the performance. The HP Scitex has helped us significantly reduce production costs and time,” says Ibrahim Hammoud, executive manager, CNC Division, Emirates Décor. In fact, the printer streamlined the company’s workflow so much that Emirates Décor recovered its investment in the printer after only the first project.

Vivid colors on almost any surface

After its smashing success using the HP Scitex FB910’s streamlined workflow, Emirates Décor now prints custom designs on almost any medium—at the high quality their high-end clients demand.

“We think of this machine as an automated painter that works on almost any surface. We print on tissue paper, bedcovers and curtains. We’ve even printed glass tabletops and stainless steel elevator doors,” says Hammoud.

The HP Scitex FB910 Printer uses four UV-curable pigment inks formulated to produce bold, vivid colors that hold up to the elements. Plus, with HP RIP Software, the printer performs automatic color calibrations, ensuring consistent, outstanding results.
