Maintaining the distinction of an industry frontrunner isn’t always easy. Businesses must anticipate trends and make strategic moves to stay ahead. Jay Dollries, owner and CEO of Innovative Labeling Solutions (ILS), knows that in the label and packaging industry, investing in cutting-edge technology is the best way to do just that.

In 2005, ILS adopted digital printing technology to streamline production of product labels and packaging for a wide variety of clients. Today, ILS continues to outpace the competition—and grow its business—thanks to the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press. With options to print up to seven colors, including a new and improved white, ILS is set to become a leader in the rapidly growing flexible packaging market, using the HP Indigo WS6000.

“The press makes us much more competitive in flexible packaging,” Dollries says. “Without a doubt, HP Indigo is the leader in digital printing. It puts us in a position to grow into new markets.”

Gaining the advantage

“HP has been there to support us in a number of avenues,” Dollries says. “It’s a win-win solution for us both; a nice, open relationship where the goal is for both of us to succeed.”

Since expanding the digital printing segment of its business, ILS has seen the number of applications it can offer multiply. With the addition of the HP Indigo WS6000, the company can now run the thin films required for flexible packaging that were once too difficult and expensive to use.

“With the white-ink printing capabilities of the HP Indigo WS6000, we can reduce the cost of flexible packaging jobs,” Dollries says. “Plus, we can take advantage of what the rest of the market isn’t doing now—turning flexible packaging jobs around within a week.”

The HP Indigo WS6000 prints at speeds of 98 feet per minute in four colors on almost all media. This productivity means ILS can promise fast turnaround, ensuring that timely, targeted delivery sets the company apart.

Seeing is believing

Clients new to ILS have proved that seeing is believing. Once a customer views the image quality produced on the HP Indigo WS6000, they also see the positive effect digital printing can have on their brand.

With improved color management options and print resolutions up to 1,219 dpi, the HP Indigo WS6000 helps ILS provide impressive labels and packaging. And the HP Indigo WS6000 has the ability to produce high-quality prints on a broad range of media, including folding cartons, shrink sleeves, pouches and sachets.

“It really is a new day in terms of the value we’re able to provide,” says Kathy Popovich, director of marketing at ILS. “When we create ‘aha’ moments for our customers using the HP Indigo press, they begin to understand why having a label printed digitally matters.”

Thanks to the performance and productivity of the HP Indigo WS6000—and the comprehensive support of HP—ILS continues to grow and stay ahead of its competitors. In fact, the company recently expanded its facility to include a new building dedicated exclusively to digital printing.

“HP has been there to support us in a number of avenues,” Dollries says. “It’s a win-win solution for us both; a nice, open relationship where the goal is for both of us to succeed.”
