| | As China’s economy grows, so does its infrastructure. And as that infrastructure expands, the China Railway Shanghai Design Institute Group (CRSDG) is poised to scale up its design and engineering services to aid the development of railways, bridges and more.
At the center of this growth is the institute’s printing team. Here, 13 employees use a small fleet of HP Designjet large-format printers to support the printing needs of more than 1,000 people and to meet the group’s tight deadlines, which leave no room for errors or unproductive technology.
Recently, CRSDG added the new HP Designjet T1200 Printer to help keep up with printing demands. According to co-workers Hua Zhengping and Wu Zhongwei, the reliable new printer allows CRSDG to benefit from fast speeds, efficient paper handling and high-quality printing.

Efficiency is critical for CRSDG’s ability to keep up with the production of multiple map types and sizes. Zhongwei explains: “We have many map sizes and types, like topographical maps, in various formats, such as PLT, DWG and JPG.”
The HP Designjet T1200 Printer accommodates two rolls, which improves efficiency for the group’s range of printing, says Zhongwei. “Before, changing paper was tiresome. Now, with this printer, we don’t have that problem. Two rolls help us save time.”
“The HP Designjet T1200 Printer also identifies the different map sizes and changes sheets by itself,” Zhongwei says. ”This helps our work a lot because it saves time and paper.” Fast-drying HP Vivera inks also enable staff to grab prints immediately without smudging.

Beyond efficiency, CRSDG needs high-quality printing, and according to Zhengping and Zhongwei, the HP Designjet T1200 Printer has not disappointed them. The group’s maps are rich in color and line detail, and each shade or contour holds specific meaning.
“The HP Designjet T1200 offers stunning output quality with crisp lines and bright colors—exactly what we need,” Zhengping says. The color maps CRSDG prints are often used for bidding on projects, he adds, so they can make or break company sales.
Line accuracy is also important to CRSDG’s work. “The HP Designjet T1200 prints good-quality renderings” Zhengping says. The HP Designjet T1200 Printer is capable of up to 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution with a line accuracy of 0.1 percent.1 |

The railway design institute has always been pleased with the reliability of its fleet of HP products. The HP Designjet T1200 Printer complements the company’s busy printer fleet, enabling CRSDG to produce high-quality technical drawings and expand their business.
In addition to the printer’s exceptional quality, Zhongwei is already impressed by the durability of the HP Designjet T1200: “Once we had 30 maps to print, each 50 meters long. The printer performed very well, nonstop, for 12 hours, so we know it’s durable.” Zhengping adds, “It’s absolutely reliable. We would be happy to recommend this product to our counterparts.”
