Idea Print initially tried to break into outdoor signage using an eco-solvent printer, but quickly discovered the results didn’t live up to the company’s high standards. It then turned to HP Latex Printing Technologies, spending two successful years with the technology before eagerly agreeing to test the next generation of HP Latex Inks with the new HP Designjet L26500 Printer.
“The key advantage is we can now produce outdoor and indoor applications on an incredible range of materials using a single device,” says Jordi Cordero, owner of Idea Print.
Half the cost, nearly twice as fastRecently a local council approached Idea Print for museum exhibit decorations, including a double-sided, outdoor banner—and they needed it all in 24 hours.
When producing double-sided banners in the past, Idea Print used its eco-solvent printer to print each side on separate strips of media and then attach them together. However, thanks to fast-drying inks and the intelligent automation of the HP Designjet L26500, the company could quickly print on both sides of a single substrate. Cordero explains:
 | | “With our HP Latex printer we have been able to turn jobs around about 40% faster than on our eco-solvent printer. ” |
Printer operator, Ivan Marti, adds, “We also save 50% on media costs by not using two separate banners for urgent jobs.”
Easy to use at every stageCordero also found that the HP Designjet L26500 Printer simplifies every stage of his company’s printing process. Textiles are easy to feed with the dedicated media loading accessory. And the printer’s automatic, double-sided printing process allows Marti to simply load the file into the ONYX RIP and the program automatically aligns and guides the substrate through the printer.
Says Cordero: “HP Latex Ink printing technology is really simple to use.”
Plus, the printer makes it a snap to print on a wide variety of substrates, including paper, vinyl, canvas, and textiles which in turn makes Idea Print’s customers happy. “Customers are increasingly choosing textiles as an attractive product for tradeshow signs and decorations,” says Cordero.
Growing business, reducing environmental impactIdea Print is also finding it’s able to attract new customers thanks to the environmental profile of HP Latex Inks and the HP Designjet L26500 Printer.
Cordero recalls: “A customer recently asked us to print some banners because we were able to offer water-based HP Latex Inks in combination with one-hundred percent cotton textile.”
Customers often choose HP Latex Inks because they are odorless1 and contain no Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs).2 Environmentally conscious customers can also benefit from HP’s range of recyclable3 printing materials. The HP Large-format Media take-back program offers print service providers free and convenient return and recycling of HP printing materials.3
In all, the choice to work with HP Latex Printing Technologies has helped Idea Print grow as a business. Cordero concludes:
“We can offer greater product variety and this has allowed us to reach new customers. For Idea Print, it’s been a successful investment.”
1 Some substrates may have inherent odor. 2 HP Latex Inks were tested for Hazardous Air Pollutants, as defined in the Clean Air Act, per U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Method 311 (testing conducted in 2010) and none were detected. 3 HP Large-format Media take-back program availability varies. Some recyclable HP papers can be recycled through commonly available recycling programs. Recycling programs may not exist in your area. See www.hp.com/recycle for details. |
