Introduction

To keep your HP Indigo press running at the top of its game, HP is always looking for ways to improve and enhance everything from hardware components, to software applications, to customer service. Read the following Field Change Order (FCO) announcements and advisories to find out how HP can help you help your press.

1. FCO announcement

Release of I-Fix 4 for HP Indigo press software version 7.4.4

Affected systems

HP Indigo press 5000

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of I-Fix 4 for HP Indigo press software version 7.4.4. This I-Fix includes the following:
Eliminates the fatal error that sometimes occurred when the PIP enhancement unit (PEU) was activated on the press.
Pop-up events in Chinese, Japanese and Spanish now active.
Resets the impression counter when a PIP enhancement unit is replaced with a new one, so that the PEU age can be measured correctly.

Implementation

Implementation is mandatory. The estimated installation time is up to 45 minutes.

2. FCO announcement

Release of I-Fix 3 for HP Indigo press software version 7.5

Affected systems

HP Indigo press 5500

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of I-Fix 3 for HP Indigo press software version 7.5. This I-Fix includes the following:

Null cycles or substrate jams no longer occur when handling many jobs simultaneously.
The PEU is now activated with the correct timing.
No error appears with the first PEU activation.
Option to disable the PEU is available if the 7th BID BDU is not active.
It is now possible to print in the order the jobs are sent to the press (first in, first out).
Prints no longer fail for substrate weights of 130 lb cover. The software displays an error that the substrate definition is not valid.
When creating a new channel using the press Job Editor, the full substrate name is now displayed.
Corrects color misregistration that appeared on the first page when printing jobs with light colors.
The Insufficient memory error message no longer appears when multiple jobs are sent to the press.
There is no delay between jobs when many jobs are imported.
Ripping no longer fails when PPML or JLT files with transparency are sent to the press RIP.
The following error no longer appears when editing the ticket template: "The press job destination specified in this job ticket had been removed".
Jobs no longer change to complete after printing a proof. This enables resubmission of the job after proof.
When sending files from Direct Smile to the press, the text channels are printed correctly.
The Press Production Manager database schema was fixed.
Supports the new RIP dongle which includes a new driver.

3. FCO announcement

Cleaning Station Drain Insulation

Affected systems

HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press

Reason for FCO

To install an insulation layer on the underside of the cleaning station drain, to prevent liquid condensation and dripping. The underside of the cleaning station drain tends to accumulate condensates during press operation. Installation of an insulation layer underneath the drain corrects this issue

Implementation

Follow the instructions provided in CA393-00940 Cleaning Station Drain Insulation installation instructions. There are 99 units in stock in NA. After initial stock is depleted, there will be an 84 day lead time.
