Introduction

To keep your HP Indigo press running at the top of its game, HP is always looking for ways to improve and enhance everything from hardware components, to software applications, to customer service. Read the following Field Change Order (FCO) announcements and advisories to find out how HP can help you help your press.

1. FCO announcement

Impression paper holder clamps

Affected products

UltraStream 2000
HP Indigo press 3050
HP Indigo press 3500
HP Indigo press 5000

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of impression paper holder clamps used to prevent the holder attachment flange from breaking. Installation of the paper holder clamps is recommended for all presses with the 4-screw impression paper holder (CA245-11841), to prevent breakage of the attachment flange.

Implementation

This kit should be installed by the operator if there are no vertical registration issues on a single side of the print.

If there are such registration issues, the holder needs to be replaced, and the kit installed by a CE.

2. FCO announcement

New jigs available for press operator

Affected product

HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press

Reason for FCO

To publicize the availability of the duplex conveyor belts measurement jig and the impression drum substrate removal jig to press operators.

Implementation

The impression drum substrate removal jig should be used to remove substrate stuck to the impression drum. The belt measurement jig should be used to test duplex conveyor belts (DC belts) and determine if they need to be replaced due to wear. CEs should be aware that the jigs are now available to operators. Operators should use the jigs as described in the following documents:

  • CA394-00940 – Checking the DC belts for wear

3. FCO announcement

Release of I-Fix 2 for HP Indigo press software version 8.0.1 and N-fix 3 for HP Indigo Print Care version 1.0

Affected product

HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of I-Fix 2 for HP Indigo press software version 8.0.1 and N-fix 3 for HP Indigo Print Care version 1.0.

I-Fix 2 includes the following:

  • Fixes color inconsistency at the beginning of printing also known as red image issue.
  • Fixes communication error between DFE and press.
  • Enables substrate path calibration paper handling wizards to be performed with various substrate sizes.
  • Prevents PSTB (Paper Stuck To Blanket) false alarm.
  • Improves log collection mechanism.
  • Increases calibration can compression time, to ensure that the can is empty.
N-Fix 3 includes the following:
  • Enable paper handling calibration with various paper sizes.
  • Fixes issues in Paper Handling (PH) wizard.
  • Adds help for wizards.
  • The Agent Email Address text box can now only be edited by a technician.

Implementation

The estimated installation time is 30 minutes.
  • The I-Fix will be sent via HPAU or downloaded from the portal.
  • Install the I-Fix, then the N-fix.
  • Install or upgrade to HPAU 1.1. to ensure automatic future updates to the press.

4. FCO announcement

I-Fix 2 for HP Indigo Production Manager 1.2

Affected product

HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of I-Fix 2 for HP Indigo Production Manager 1.2.

I-Fix 1 is the latest update for HP Indigo Production Manager and contains the following:

  • CallMe@HP support
  • The DFE no longer deletes jobs from the press if the press software is restarted.
  • The DFE will check how a database file is encoded and use that encoding for processing rather than use an alternate encoding which causes errors.

Implementation

The estimated installation time is 15 minutes.
HP AutoUpdate prompts the operator to install the I-Fix. If the prompt does not appear or if HP AutoUpdate needs to be run manually, do the following:

1. Shutdown the HP Indigo Production Manager software on the core server.

2. Run the HP AutoUpdate software by clicking Start > Programs > HP > HP Indigo AutoUpdate. HP AutoUpdate checks if an update is available from HP.

3. If an update is available, it will appear in the list of available updates. Click Next to install the selected update using HP AutoUpdate.

5. FCO announcement

I-Fix 3 for HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server version 3.2

Affected system

HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of I-Fix 3 for HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server 3.2.

I-Fix 3 is the latest update for HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server and contains the following:

  • A new CallMe@HP link on the desktop.
  • Improves reliability and uptime.
  • New press jobs now appear in RPM.
  • Includes Matrix 3.2 backup capability for upgrade to future versions.
  • Includes IPC changes to increase robustness and stability.

Implementation

The estimated installation time is 20 minutes.
HP AutoUpdate prompts the operator to install the I-Fix. If the prompt does not appear or if HP AutoUpdate needs to be run manually, do the following:
  • Shutdown the "HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server" software on the System Manager.
  • Run the HP AutoUpdate software by clicking Start > Programs > HP > HP Indigo AutoUpdateHP AutoUpdate checks to see if an update is available from HP.
  • If an update is available, it appears in the list of available updates. Click Next to install the selected update using "HP AutoUpdate".

6. FCO announcement

Main Motor Controller Firmware Update

Affected product

HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press
HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press

Reason for FCO

To describe how to update the main motor controller firmware.

Implementation

Perform the firmware update as described in CA393-01690 – Main Motor Controller Firmware Upgrade installation instructions.

7. FCO announcement

HP Indigo Press Software Version 6.6.9, Version 6.6.10, and I-Fix 1

Affected presses

HP Indigo press ws4000
HP Indigo press ws4050
HP Indigo press ws4500

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of the HP Indigo press software upgrade kit (CA292-02072).

This kit contains two new HP Indigo press software versions:

  • HP Indigo press software version 6.6.9
    for HP Indigo press ws4050 and HP Indigo press ws4000.
  • HP Indigo press software version 6.6.10
    for HP Indigo press ws4500 and HP Indigo press ws4050 with value pack.

Implementation

Prerequisites

1. Updated backup of your system.

2. For the HP Indigo press ws4000 or HP Indigo press ws4050, press software version 6.6.3 or above installed.

3. For the HP Indigo press ws4500 or HP Indigo press ws4050 with value pack, press software version 6.6.4 or above installed.

Installation

1. To install the new press software and the latest I-Fix, follow the instructions in Installation Instructions for Press Software Version 6.6.9, Version 6.6.10, and I-Fix 1 (CA293-04913).

2. If the IHH dripping solution kit (Q5035A) is not installed on the press, then update the press software as follows:

a. Select Options > Press Configuration > Mechanical Devices.
b. In the ITM Hood Heater field, select Not Installed.
c. Click OK.

8. FCO announcement

HP Indigo Press Software Version 8.1.1 Package

Affected presses

HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press

Reason for FCO

North America Service Delivery Team is required to upgrade all HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Presses in North America as identified below with this software upgrade kit. This upgrade should be installed by a qualified Indigo CE. This affects all customers up to press serial number 41000057

Implementation

Installation time is approximately 6 hours for the complete package.

9. FCO announcement

Release of I-fix 4 for HP Indigo press software version 7.5 and I-fix 5 for HP Indigo press software version 7.4.4

Affected presses

  • HP Indigo press 5000
  • HP Indigo press 5500

Reason for FCO

To announce the release of I-Fix 4 for HP Indigo press software version 7.5 and I-Fix 5 for HP Indigo press software version 7.4.4. This I-Fix includes the following improvements:
  • Improves press reliability
  • Increase BID and blanket life span
  • Improves press serviceability
  • Improves press productivity

Implementation

The estimated installation time is 45 minutes. The HP Indigo Auto Updater (HPAU) installs automatic I-fixes for presses that are connected to the internet. When HPAU is installed on the press, the I-Fix is automatically downloaded and available for installation.
